The Redwood City Mothers Club is a community of parents of infants and young children who live in Redwood City and the surrounding area.
Our members enjoy a range of fun activities for families and “just” moms. We run several weekly playgroups organized by age plus our club playgroup at Red Morton’s Community Arts Building (CAB). Our Big Tent online forum provides a wealth of information and support for parents with young children.
Our annual membership fee is $40. Click here to join via our Big Tent page.
This is our website. It gives you an overview of the club and our events. It has a great guide to kid-friendly Redwood City and the surrounding area. We also have online resources for parents in the Bay Area and worldwide.
Our members interact on our Big Tent site. It’s where we host our forum, calendar, classifieds, members’ directory, and more. Check out our public page on Big Tent here.
Four or five large parties are hosted by the club every year. They have included a Gymnastics Party, Summer Party, Halloween Party, and Holiday Party. These functions are favorite activities for club members and are a good chance to see our club members in one place. Crafts, games, and refreshments always help to round out the fun!
Club members also enjoy socials from time to time as a way for members and our children to get to know one another in smaller groups. These events have include Speaker events, Spa Socials, Neighborhood Gatherings, Ice Cream Socials or Snacks in the Park. Additionally, the group plans socials for seasoned and new members to gather in an adult only setting.
Membership is required for all club events so please check Big Tent for a list of current events and to learn how you can join in on the fun! We are always looking for members to host or organize events, so please email events at rwcmc.org if you would like to help.
For more information, please email the RWCMC Playgroup Coordinator at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Weekly Toy Co-Op
The toy co-op is a volunteer run activity and is open to all RWCMC members. It is a fun, relaxed place where kids can engage in free play in a great play environment with loads of toys and moms can enjoy coffee, snacks and adult conversation. The toy co-op is a playgroup without the stress of hosting at one’s home or chasing one’s children around the park or in the rain.
We ask that everyone attending either help set up (get key from office, put out sign in sheet and chairs, put out toys and snacks, etc.) or help clean up (wipe down and put away toys, snacks, chairs, etc). Children are welcome to play and help while everyone works!
Current times and dates are available on the group’s Big Tent page.
What else does the club do?
Members of a co-op agree to swap babysitting on a point system. You earn points when you sit, and you spend points when someone sits for you. When someone needs a sitter they can let the group know by e-mail or by calling people directly.
Any fund-raising proceeds which are unused at the end of the year are donated to the local community. In the past, the club has supported the following but not limited to: The Library Friends, The Redwood City Education Foundation, The Shelter Network, The Hope Foundation, PARCA, and Second Harvest.
